Deu no Bicho

A Brazilian cultural tradition since 1892

Jogo do bicho (the animal game) was created in 1892 at Vila Isabel Zoo in Rio de Janeiro. Over 130+ years it became part of Brazil's urban folklore — showing up in samba lyrics, cinema, literature and daily slang. For international readers, it's closer in cultural weight to the Italian Smorfia or the Chinese Zodiac numbers than to modern sports betting.

Jogo do bicho is a criminal misdemeanor in Brazil (Decree-Law 3,688/1941). This site is an educational/cultural resource. We do not accept or process bets from outside Brazil.

Full schedule of jogo do bicho drawings

Brazilian lottery draws — both official (Federal) and folk-tradition (jogo do bicho) — run on a fixed weekly schedule. This is the complete calendar for English readers.

PT-Rio draws (daily, 7 days a week)

  • PPT (Primeiro): ~09:20 Brasília time
  • PTM (Manhã): ~11:20
  • PTV (Vespertino): ~14:20
  • PTN (Noite): ~18:20
  • Corujinha: ~21:30 (folk favorite — "little owl")

Federal (Loteria Federal Caixa)

Only Wednesdays and Saturdays at 19:00 Brasília time. Special draws (Federal de Natal, de Ano Novo, da Independência) run the same weekday with larger prize pools. The Federal draw is the official state lottery — jogo do bicho uses its outcome as a shared reference for many operators.

Regional bancas (state variants)

Each state has its own draws with unique times: LOOK-Goiás (mornings), LOTEP-Paraíba (structured schedule since 2024 regulation), LBR-Bahia (multiple daily), Federal-inspired draws in Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Ceará. Most states run 3-5 draws per day.
